Quick Guide: Using a Vinometer

With the funnelled top pointing upwards part fill this with the liquid that you wish to know the alcohol content of.

You then blow this liquid down the vinometer (over a sink) until liquid starts to drip slowly out of the other end. Once it' dripping, turn the vinometer upside down and watch the liquid fall through the centre of the Vinometer. When this stop, this is the amount of alcohol present.

You will find that it's easier to see this if you have the vinometer pointing to a good light.

Also, it's important to repeat the process using water as this will clean the vinometer. If you don't the sugar in the wine will bung up the fine tube that runs down the centre.
