If you've been brewing using the standard kits and fancy a change then read on!

From the Beerworks Craft Brewery Series comes the Extract Beer Kit. These kits are designed specifically for those of you that want to experiment with their beer making but don't want to make the leap into buying the all grain method where you'll need to buy a brewing system such as the Grainfather.

You will need to invest in a very large pan to do the boil and the usual fermentation/brewing equipment (like buckets steriliser and hydrometers etc) as this is purely an ingredients pack. But its likely that you have some of this equipment already.

What you will get is the pleasure of producing some fine tasting beers from a a wide assortment of kits. You can take a look at the choice here.

If you are wondering whether its for you then you can check out the instructions for making these kits here.

After you gained some experience making these kit then you may want to start thinking about moving onto a brewing system which will allow you to start brewing your own beers to taste the way you want them to.

Submersible Immersion HeaterNow that the nights are drawing in and the temperatures are dropping, especially during the night, it may be time to plan ahead a little!

At this time of year when everything is in fruit it means that for most brewers it can be a busy time. If you have spent the summer brewing you won't have been to concerned about the temperature.

Already, the temperatures are beginning to drop and that's not good for fermentation. If it doesn't have a little warmth it will just stop. So to protect yourself against temperatures dropping we have several soluctions.

If you are brewing wine/beer/cider in a large bucket then you could take a look at the submersible Imersion Heater - which is probably the most effiecient because when its placed in the centre of the bucket it's heating radially from the inside out. This heater has a thermostat which is set at the factory to 24 deg C which is usually fine in the UK (although it can be set manually if required).

If you are making wine using demijohns then you can take a look at the 2 and 4 demijohn Heat Trays. If you are on a budget then consider the Brew Belt which wraps around the demijohn.

Sugar! If you browse our website for beer kits you'll notice that a large proportion of them require that you add sugar. That's not a bad thing because we need the sugar to ferment and convert to ethanol ("Alcohol"). When the malt, hops, and sugars combine thats when you develop the taste of your beer. The problem is that sugar ("Saccharose") which is cane sugar (or beet sugar which is chemically the same) adds nothing to the flavour of your beer.

So here's a suggestion to improving the taste of your beer. Rather than using sugar try using the Beerworks - Liquid Malt Enhancer. Now you're adding flavour!

Malt ("Maltose") which is very similar to saccharose contains other components which give the beer a full flavour. Full flavoured beers are for the most part always made only from grain. So to produce real ale with true flavour give the Liquid Malt Enhancer a try. We're convinced that once you do there'll be no turning back.

Find it here.
